NetFrog. . . . .

Activity 15 - Use a simulation.

NetFrog was set up for Biology high school students to use in order to gain knowledge of the anatomy of a vertebrate animal such as a frog. The web programme allows users to dissect a simulated frog and its objectives are to correctly identify the locations involved in the dissection procedures and correctly identify the locations of the major organs within the body cavity of a frog, given a list of the organs.

NetFrog was set up to educate students, allowing them to practice before dissecting an actually frog. Not only is this useful as many students do not particularly like the actual experience of dissecting a real animal but it uses creative and effective means in order to do so. The simulation allows users to feel engaged in the programme using a hands-on approach and in doing so the students learn efficiently and progressively.

Therefore, this website is a good example of effective online learning as it is apparent that through the simulation and animation, students are able to learn the information quickly and adequately rather than perhaps that in a classroom.
